Get Travel Insurance
Protect yourself from unexpected costs and headaches with travel insurance.
With comprehensive coverage for medical emergencies, lost or delayed baggage, cancellation fees — even non-refundable deposits — you can make sure your getaway goes as smoothly as possible!
These insurance are so cheap and there is completely no reason you should not have one, depending on where you are, travel insurance costs as little as $30 per month.
Bring a Phone (and Get Local SIM Cards)
Phones are now everywhere and some hotels(especially bed and breakfasts) may not even have a phone in their room
.
They justify that all guests now have their mobiles so take your phone with you.
When you reach your destination, just get a local SIM card to make calling back home cheaper.
You don`t want to be in an emergency and you can call no one.(will one day tell you my story of being stranded in the Desert in Egypt without a phone).
Savvy travelers now add a TravelSim card and it`s very affordable.
Here I explained how to get a sim card in Kenya and why you need a local sim card when you travel.
Go With the Flow
If you are on vacation don`t try to be too strict with yourself, try to go with the flow, if you are at a hostel and your hostel mates are going on a night out, join them and have fun.
You`ll make more friends and have more fun than if you are just fixed with “My idea is the best” or, I can`t I want to visit the beach tomorrow” What makes traveling beautiful is that you can temporarily drop your strict and just be.

Don’t Live by Your Guidebook
I started traveling back in the day when you needed those little guidebooks to take you around, but they can be outdated.
The rule for me today is to get there and go with the flow, there is nothing written in stone, so it`s ok to jump around or not follow your travel guidebook to the T.
Guidebooks are the perfect way to familiarize yourself with an upcoming destination.
They’ll give you valuable insight into cities and countries scattered across your travel itinerary.
But for those looking for something really unique, only local knowledge will do – that means hopping off the beaten track in search of hidden gems unlikely to appear on any guidebook list!
It’s Ok to Change Plans
Embarking on a solo journey can be an incredible way to explore the world and have life-changing experiences.
When traveling alone, it’s perfectly acceptable – even encouraged – to deviate from prior plans to make spontaneous decisions that could lead you down unexpected paths filled with surprising discoveries!
Traveling solo can be an incredibly liberating experience, but it’s equally important to know that staying flexible and open-minded gives you the opportunity to go on unexpected excitements and adventures.
When you change your plans and venture somewhere unplanned, not only are there usually amazing discoveries waiting for you.
Like delicious local restaurants or stunning nature spots off the beaten path – but also a renewed sense of ownership over where life’s journey is taking you.
Bring Extra Money
Traveling abroad can be a great adventure, but it’s important to remember that having some extra cash on hand is essential for when unplanned happens.
Whether you’re looking for souvenirs or just want peace of mind in case of an unexpected expense, bringing along some additional money will make your journey go more smoothly and let you enjoy every moment!
Pack Light when possible
For the aspiring jet-setter, packing light is essential for having a successful overseas adventure!
It’s important to limit yourself on what you bring in order to better explore your destination and not be weighed down by unnecessary items.
Leave room in your suitcase so that when it comes time to purchase souvenirs, trinkets, or other surprises during travels abroad, they have a place of their own!
Make Memories
Traveling is the perfect opportunity to create lasting memories! Exploring new places, immersing yourself in different cultures, and making connections with people from all walks of life.
These are experiences that stay with you long after your journey has come to an end.
So make sure you take time out during every trip – no matter how short or far – for unforgettable moments that will bring a smile whenever they’re recalled.
